Worked with all the students from Longacre School to make a 3-D freestanding infinity cube inspired by the theme of Diversity.

"Once again Liliana and Carlos surpassed our expectations with the creation of an incredible installation for our school on the theme of Diversity/Infinity.

As a starting point they used the mathematical concept of fractals as never-ending patterns that are self-similar across different scales, and are unique but also form part of a bigger structure that goes on and on to infinity.  And how in a similar way we are all unique and diverse, but also belong to the same species.

Each student designed and painted their own individual sphere, which then became part of a mesmerising installation housed within an infinity cube."

This Public Artwork was commissioned by Abbot's Hospital in Guildford to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the founding of Abbot's Hospital by George Abbot, Archbishop of Canterbury.

"Husband and wife Liliana and Carlos designed the panels with the assistance of a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The design of the panels was inspired and informed by Abbot's Hospital’s history, its original furniture and architectural features, as well as community art workshops held by the artists with residents from Abbot's Hospital and students from two local schools. Eras have been thoughtfully and intricately detailed in what is exquisite craftsmanship with images flowing from one century to the next.

There is even a delightful tribute to the 1960s period and music depicted with a Yellow Submarine Beatles tile complete with some sheet music."

Worked with all the students from Longacre School to make ceramic sculptures inspired by the Cycladic period, painted Greek theatre paper masks, painted transparent acetate sheets with motifs based on

different themes around the subject of Greek pottery and mosaic designs, to create a modern 3D suspended art installation

"We have had the pleasure of working with Liliana and Carlos on our creative arts week workshops for the last three years and during this time they have been incredible to work with.  The depth of knowledge and experience that they impart to the children is priceless and the artistic results have been outstanding.  They not only prepare full presentations for the children so they understand the background to their creative workshops but then they make sure that each individual child is catered for and feels they can flourish. We could not recommend them more highly as creative educators and wonderful people."

Worked with all the students from Longacre School, in making 3D wicker, tissue and papier maché sculptures and paintings based on different themes around the subject of Alice in Wonderland and surrealist art, to create a large art installation.

"Both Carlos and Liliana are fantastic artists and the breadth of experience and passion that they bring to the children is wonderful to see. We have felt very lucky to have them!

Nursery to Form I all heard about the artist Joan Miro and created some art pieces to music, trying to see what they could find in their picture – from butterflies to aliens – we found them all!  Form II and some of Form III made shapes out of willow and tracing paper. Form III, Form IV and Form V made Miro shapes from papier mache balloons and attached them to wire.  Some of Form IV and Form V have painted surrealist canvases in pairs and learned about colour mixing from Carlos. Form VI have worked on our giant teapot and teacup in true 'Alice in Wonderland' style – firstly making the structure in willow and then covering it with sugar paper and finally tracing paper.  What a week!"

Worked with Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students from Longacre School to learn about the use of acrylic painting techniques to produce a small painting each.

"Carlos’ workshop was based on his love of the sea and we were lucky enough to have his paintings and ceramics displayed as inspiration throughout the week long workshop.  Carlos demonstrated to the children how to use a mixture of Plaster of Paris, sand, PVA and water to create a texture on top of a canvas before then giving an hour long acrylic lesson where they painted the canvases they had prepared in the first lesson.

The results were outstanding and all the children created a final piece full of energy and individualism whist really cementing their understanding of colour mixing and acrylics."

Project |09

Worked with all 203 children from Longacre School in the creation of an enchanted wood ceramic mushrooms and ceramic components for a wire and steel bear for the school grounds.

"We, at Longacre, have had the pleasure of working with both Liliana and Carlos in two separate workshops over the last year.  Liliana’s was wonderfully inspiring and very ‘hands on’ with the children learning all about clay and working collaboratively to create some beautiful work for our school grounds.  Liliana’s approach is so warm and passionate about her subject that all the children went away feeling excited by the endless possibilities of clay and subsequently love seeing their work proudly displayed in the school grounds.

I would recommend Carlos and Liliana without a doubt; their workshops inspired the children throughout, created beautiful work and allowed the children freedom to explore and play with clay and colour and understand that creatively, the sky’s the limit!"

Celebratory mural for Ripley Court School. 500 tiles, 250 children took part in tile making and decorating workshops to create a mural to celebrate 120 years of the school.

"I have worked with Liliana on a project to create a tile mural for my school. She approached the work in a professional manner and was very organized and totally inspiring to the children. She was able to adapt the project to suit all age groups from nursery up to KS3 and kept them motivated and enthusiastic. Her explanations were clear and she allowed them to use a wide variety of materials and techniques. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to work with you and know that you would have no regrets if you employed her."

Luna is a collaborative multi-media installation with poet Susie Campbell and sound-artist Dominic Shaw. It combines light and sound with sculpure using recyled electronic cirtuitry and porcelain, and a cycle of thriteen poems based on the lunar calendar.

"It is always such a pleasure to work with you and Carlos, and on this occasion to include the poetry of Susie Campbell as well as Dominic Shaw’s expertise with the sound installation. Those who saw it in the academic comunity were impressed and appreciated its multi-faceted multi-media components. Given our own limitations with budget, you were able to make the most of the exhibiting conditions to achieve the highest possible quality in terms of sound, light and atmosphere. The DVD and booklet are also produced to a high standard."

Mural for Guildford Pupil Referral Unit entrance hall, design based on visits and handling sessions at Guildford Museum and Watts Gallery in Compton. 16 students. 12 one-day workshop sessions.

"Liliana is a fervent believer in the educational value of young people working with artists and of participating directly in the creative process. She is, therefore, prepared to do a lot of the hard work that makes projects such as these possible: finding collaborators, persuading funders, coming up with practical arrangements that will make the best use of everyone’s time and skills. Totem Poles for Queen Eleanor's C Of E Junior School in Guildford. 240 students worked in pairs over a term to produce a section of a totem pole. Designs were based around subjects in the national curriculum.

"Liliana worked with the children at my school and brought working with ceramics to life. Every child got involved, felt ownership of the work AND had a good time doing so. Having a real, live artist amongst us was great, and the staff enjoyed it too."

1,000 tile celebratory mural for Cherry Trees Respite Care Home for children with learning and physical disabilities. Over the course of an academic year I coordinated, devised and delivered over 43 workshops working with 575 children, young people and care home supporters.

"I have worked with Liliana Montoya  since 2009 , when she lead a community arts project commemorating the 30th anniversary of our charity, Cherry Trees, which offers short term respite care for children and young people with disabilities.  Liliana designed a beautiful mural and then lead workshops in local primary schools and at Cherry Trees to produce over 1,000 ceramic tiles needed to complete the mural.  The Cherry Trees children gained so much from working with her, that we have since held workshops for the children producing ceramic totem poles and mushrooms, and more recently produced a welcome mural for the front of our home.  Liliana’s enthusiasm for her art is contagious and her commitment to working with young people inspiring."
